DSNI 250 Sophomore Studio Spring 2017 Radford University Radford, VA
The goal of this project was to create a veterinary clinic with a unique inspiration. I chose the European Bee Eater, a bird of many colors, who digs its nest out of the dried up sides of riverbanks. They are protective of their young yet ready to face danger by eating insects that could harm them like bees and wasps. I thought this would be perfect for a clinic that wants to take a modern approach in a fast growing world. Clients enter into a warm colorful space filled with hope for their furry family members. The lobby is a bright space with windows that reach up for the sky. Above the reception desk is a mobile installation of clear glass tiles hung to catch sunlight and reflect it onto the walls inside.
